Welcome! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Person-Centered Expressive Arts Therapist, and intermodal artist currently living in Mexico. Since officially relocating in 2022, I have been soaking in this vibrant culture, learning the language, and embracing a very different way of life while continuing to see clients virtually.
As a highly sensitive person with a neurodivergent brain, I have turned to art and creativity as means of self-expression and self-regulation for as long as I can remember. My own process of growth, expansion, and finding my voice through the use of creativity has shown me how effective the expressive arts can be in revealing and healing the parts of ourselves that have long been buried and wish to be expressed. I feel so much of our anxiety and pain is the result of living with our cargo still inside of us, sealed up too tightly to see the light of day, much less be gifted to others.
My own path of discovery led me to fully immerse myself in the study of “art as healing” by receiving a dual Masters Degree in Art Therapy & Counseling from Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and subsequently to embark on a 2-year exploration of the expressive arts by completing late psychologist, Dr. Natalie Rogers’, intensive certification program in Sonoma, California. This highly experiential training combined the person-centered theory and philosophy of Carl Rogers with the expressive arts—movement, music, visual art, writing, and drama. My focus ever since has been using Expressive Arts Therapy along with a trauma-informed lens to help clients manage and heal from the many things we all face living in a very disconnected world and dysfunctional society.
Today, I feel grateful to be reunited with my unique gifts and purpose and find that my ultimate joy comes from sharing them—my cargo—like yours—is not for me but for others. Service is one of my main values and I have been on the Board of Directors for the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA) since May of 2020 and am currently one of the Executive Co-chairs. I am also very proud to be the Arts & Recovery Team Lead for the Disastershock Global Response Team. Disastershock is an international humanitarian relief organization dedicated to providing coping resources to children and families affected by disaster-related stress with materials translated into 27 different languages and aims to provide solace for those who are suffering.
I am passionate about being a guide for those who have become disconnected from their own cargo and feel that many of my gifts lie in my empathy, sensitivity, curiosity, creativity, and ability to deeply listen to, be present for, and see the light in others. I would love to help you shine your light as well!
