Description:
Join us for a powerful journey of healing and self-expression through poetry! This Disastershock Arts & Recovery Virtual Community Workshop, Therapeutic Poetry for Mental Health & Wellbeing, is here to help you find comfort and creativity through community and connection. Poetry Therapy is a form of Expressive Arts Therapy and involves the therapeutic use of poems, narratives, and other spoken or written literary arts to promote wellbeing and healing through self-expression. During this experiential workshop, you will learn about the power of individual and group expression through the writing, reading, and sharing of poetry!
We will:
*Learn about the emotional and somatic benefits of Poetry Therapy as an expressive arts modality
*Experiment with response art by responding to poetry using words, images, sound and/or movement
*Explore poetic theme and structure by engaging in a collaborative poetry-creation process
*Hear from a poet about the process of writing and sharing a poem
*Begin the process of writing a poem of your own
*Witness & share in small groups (according to your comfort level!)
*Come discover the transformative power of poetry—no writing experience needed! Let’s join together to share, create, and heal.
